At HAWK I think supporting local artists is very important to our culture as a growing city. I will be displaying pieces from local artists in my loft, which you can purchase directly from the artist, or just enjoy during your visit. The art and artist will be changing every few months.

I get inspired when:

My inspiration comes from everything around me. For color a big inspiration is nature. When the leaves change there are so many colors that we take for granted that just pop out at me. Also the colors in a landscape. When you look at the sand, for instance, how beautiful that becomes for a blond. Animals are another big inspiration for me. Take for instance the colors in saltwater fish, they're so intense. Nature puts certain colors together for a reason, when combined pure beauty is created. For Haircuts, I get inspiration from my surroundings as well. For example, music, the fluidity of the current sound, if the music has choppier beats vs. a rounder sound. Architecture is a big one as well. The angles, the shapes, the way a corner or edge of a building can be so striking. The way an icicle forms, I could go on forever with examples.

My sense of style is:

As far as my style as a stylist, it is all over the board. Though my own somewhat quirky personal style doesn't seem to evolve much, my professional style certainly does. I am an artist and hair is my medium. I love the challenge of coming up with the perfect cut/colour/style for each and every person. I am not one of those stylists who gives everyone the same look. Individuality is key.
